The city of Richmond is the seat of Fort Bend County in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. Richmond city boundaries are joined on one hand with Sugar Land and with the city of Rosenberg on the other side. Even though it is the county seat, thus containing most of the local government offices, it actually is one of the smaller cities in the area. Adjacent Sugar Land is the largest city in the county.  Texas pioneers settled near the Brazos River. In the years since, the Ranch has passed through four generations and grown into one of Fort Bend County’s landmarks. Today, the George Ranch is a 23,000-acre working ranch. Richmond, Texas is a growing community that offers so much in the way of family, schools, history, recreation, and entertainment.

Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center is the only dual rink facility in the Gulf Coast that offers open skating sessions to the public almost every day of the week.

Shadow Hawk Golf Club is an 18-hole regulation length golf course in Richmond, Texas. This championship layout plays quite long from the back tees. The course is rated somewhat highly difficult, but low scores are still possible for the skilled player. Online tee times may be available at Shadow Hawk Golf Club or at nearby golf courses.

At the Fort Bend Museum, journey through time and experience life on the Brazos River and the Fort Bend story through exhibit galleries, historic home museums and walking tours of historic Richmond. The Texas Historical Commission has proclaimed the Fort Bend Museum “one of Texas’ best local history showcases.”  It is located at 500 Houston Street in downtown Richmond Texas.

One of Texas’s most beautiful and rewarding state parks, Brazos Bend is worth a visit anytime — though you might want to avoid summer weekends, when its popularity and proximity to Houston can make for crowds. Covering 4,897 acres, with 3.2 miles of the Brazos River forming part of its boundary, it encompasses 21 miles of hiking trails, seven lakes, a slough, and a good-size creek. Much of its habitat is bottomland forest with live oak, water oak, pecan, and elms.

Richmond offers a lifestyle for all walks of life; there is something for everyone.  Come home to Richmond, Texas.
