A Pallet of Colors
Painting is a fun and fresh update for any home. Paint trends in 2013 range from bold greens to subdued grays. Monaco Blue and African violet will be two popular choices for room painting this year. This season’s color palette emphasizes the need for balance, but integral with individuality and self-expression. If you are not ready to commit to paint using these new trendy colors, bring them in with accent pieces like rugs, pillows and artwork.
A light blue bedroom will encourage rest and relaxation, so it is always a good choice for a bedroom. This is the place where you always go to rejuvenate. Dusk blue and grayed Jade are popular choices for bedrooms in 2013. Many decorators will tell you that if you can only paint one room, the bedroom should be your choice. This is the room where you start each new day.
For most households, the kitchen is the heart of the home. Bring it to life with vibrant “lemon zest” yellow. Yellow walls look great with light cabinetry and instantly brighten up a kitchen with dim lighting or few windows. If you are not wild about the idea of a yellow kitchen, start out with an accent wall. You can bring in accent touches with towels and rugs.
The master bathroom is the perfect place to bring in one of the more popular colors for 2013- “Emerald.” “Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. The color is elegant.
A neutral paint color is the perfect backdrop to any home office space. This room represents a fine line between work and family. It needs to remain functional but attractive as a part of your home. To maintain a decorative trend in your office, a neutral khaki is a good color. Tidal foam has a classic hue that is flattering to any style.
Whether you’re watching TV or enjoying game night, the family room should reflect the fun you have there. Brighten up your space with a splash of “poppy red” or an orange tone like “nectarine.” You may not want to cover the walls with these colors, but an accent wall or two should be just the pop your family room needs.
2013 is popping with color. Painting is probably the most economical upgrade you can do to your home. This year’s colors are bold and bright – a colorful new outlook for the coming year.
