paint2The Caroline Collective has gained an image as one of the leading art studios in the region in the last five years. Despite this, the studio will be shut down this September.

During a shooting that took place in front of the building last Thursday, the founders of the studio stated that the huge lands which comprise almost 800 square feet of area are now making way for the developments of the Museum District. The said location lies at Caroline and Rosedale. Contracts for this deal are about to be finalized and new development plans will be released soon enough.

Ned Dodington is a co creator for the organization. He stated that this closure was actually part of the initial agreement that existed between Caroline Studio and the partners, Jeff Kaplan and Monte Large and  Adam Brackman. These three individuals are actually founders of the New Living and Green Painter  and the  Urban Deal, which is a reputed real estate firm.

Dodington also said that the deal has been made with mutual consensus. At the time, the project was launched, they were already aware that if the property had to undergo development, they would have to consider other options. Dodington also said that as of now, they were just interested in finding possible alternative solutions so that their members would not have to suffer because of the proceedings.

Established in the year 2008, the Caroline Collective was opened with the main aim being to help self employed creative individuals who were rapidly growing in Houston. The studio provided a flexible and warm environment for them, and allowed them to participate in community work. The halls of the studio have been filled up with several writers, engineers, graphic designers and web developers. A few nonprofit organizations have also sat at its tables. All of them have had a great experience.

In the last few years, other similar organizations have sprouted up in Houston like the Rice Village’s Platform and the EaDo’s Start. Dodington believes that they could work with these until their valuable members would settle down in their new environments.

Other plans for the studio team are to start The Hub branch in Houston. The Hub is a global incubator with over 5000 members. All these are working at 30 different locations in the entire world. The founders of Caroline Studio are collaborating with the San Francisco Branch so that operations can be launched in Houston as well.
